Meet the Core group! Our Core Group members are CSA member who have expressed a desire to assist in the running of the organization: Core group member coordinating everything behind the scenes from calling the farmers, accounting, emailing, to sorting produce.
Fun fact: All our core group members this year are parents!
It’s no wonder; parent desire to offer healthful options to their children. From the farm to the table, home cooking fresh is best!
Our core group parents are able to support their own family’s health, small family-run farms and your family all at the same time!
Gwen Charles & Sarah Forrest Sarah Forrest Sarah comes from a background in psychology but that quickly turned to an interest in health and wellness when she became a mom. This is her 6th year as a member of the MCFC and she helps as the communication coordinator who is so fortunate to have the opportunity to snap the shots for the MCFC blog. Having a passion for baking and cooking, Sarah loves to find creative ways to utilize local produce, sweeteners and products in recipes throughout the year. Gwen Charles Artist and art educator, Gwen is also a local foods advocate, founding the Montclair Food Co-op nearly 10 years ago. Eating a plant-based diet and taking the 100-mile challenge seriously, she switched all cooking & baking ingredients to local and preserved produce to last over the winter.
Bonu DeCaires Bonu is a Labor Support & Postpartum Doula and Childbirth Educator. She holds a master’s degree in nutritional science and a bachelor’s in biology. She feels that good nutrition and fresh food are essential ingredients to healthy birth, breast feeding and new motherhood. Bonu is a longtime core member of the co-op and has a nine year old son.
Jen Chaky Vegan and passionate environmentalist, Jen makes conscious decisions to protect the environment each day and puts everything she believes into practice. She is part of a vegan cooking circle and the owner of a green living company.
Annalise Silivanch Author & journalist focused on Education, Sustainability & Health Ecology, Annalise has been a CSA member and core group member for many years. As an advocate for sustainable systems, she loves creating the community connections in which sustainability can thrive.
Jamie Busch Jamie’s earliest memory of enjoying food is lying on his back in a strawberry patch in his parent’s small garden; the berries, the leaves, the sky. Today he is a culinary artist devoted to creating food and community that celebrates the joy of being alive. 🙂
Jen Dowd Environmental educator, Jen handles our Volunteer Slot software and assists with your volunteer scheduling during the season.
Dorene Oakley Stylist and designer, Dorene Oakley, has focused on making life look good. Her commitment to an holistic lifestyle insures she also feels good. She has been a long time CSA member. She assists Farmer Ken on taking inventory of his products when he arrives at
