Green Smoothies for St. Patricks Day!

Start a new tradition this St. Patrick’s Day: Celebrate your health with a green smoothie!

Basic Green Smoothie Recipe from For the Love of Food blog
  • 1 cup of raw greens (kale, chard, collards, spinach, etc)
  • 1.5 cups liquid (non-dairy milk, fresh juice, coconut water, green tea, or water)
  • 1 frozen banana (remove the peel, cut into 1-inch slices, and freeze overnight)
  • 1 cup of frozen berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and/or blackberries)
Directions:
Remove any tough stems from the greens. Blend greens and liquid for 15 seconds – 1 minute (depending on your blender) on high. Add fruits and blend for 15 – 30 seconds. Enjoy!
My favorite green smoothie comes from Harvest Table in Newark , NJ. Owner Carissa blends her Green Simon Smoothie with whole broccoli, grated ginger, fresh banana, frozen mango & pineapple in a base of apple juice. I make my own at home with frozen fruit & Mango-OJ or almond milk for a creamy version. The combinations are endless!
Invite your friends to the Juice Pub! ( hmm…Juice Pub doesn’t sound as good as Juice Bar.) Hoping your weekend is full of green, however you celebrate!
